There is a common saying that goes like this, the early bird catches the worm.If only this saying could be used well by people suffering from sinusitis problems, then they wouldn’t have any reason to suffer much.If you want to know why am insisting on this, is, research has shown that when a sinus infection is caught in its early stages, the patient is able to get appropriate treatment fast enough to avoid undergoing unnecessary suffering. However, for you to be in a position to achieve this, you need to know about the various sinus infection symptoms that accompany this health problem.

Congested nasal pathways are common sinus infection symptoms that usually occur whenever a person is having sinusitis problems. The situation takes place as a result of mucus getting trapped in the patient’s sinuses. When mucous membranes inside your nose and sinuses become inflamed, movement of celia (tiny hairs that are found on the nasal cells that are responsible for pushing away mucus) reduces. As a result, mucus in the nasal passages accumulates and form a blockage of the air pathways as well as that of sinuses hence experiencing discomfort and congestion inside the nose. This problem could however be easily done away with by using appropriate decongestants prescribed by the doctor.

Severe pain that is most of the time realized around the sinus area is usually considered as part of the sinus infection symptoms. This pain is caused by air not being allowed to enter the sinuses due to the fact that the layer of mucus formed after congestion is too thick for it to allow proper passage of air. This occurs when bacteria damage the cells of the lining that is found on the surface inside the nose, they prevent them from functioning as intended. These cells are therefore forced to swell and in turn, block any intended passage of air to the sinuses thus making it difficult to breathe and hence causing the patient to feel pain around the sinus area. This problem could be treated by consumption of hot liquids such as hot tea and hot chicken soup. However, do not bother yourself with hot coffee as it has been proven not to be effective enough to treat this condition.Otherwise most hot liquids will help to accelerate the movement of your celia so as to move away the stagnant mucus blocking the air passages.

When you notice that a thick yellow like or at times greenish nasal discharge that resembles pus is coming out from your nose, you should take it as another one of the sinus infection symptoms. This coloration and viscosity of the mucus is usually brought about by bacterial infection inside the nose. When mucous membranes swell up and cause mucus not to flow but in turn making it to be stagnant and as a result causing air not to flow freely, bacteria inside the nose take this opportunity to colonize the nasal cells that are situated where this mucus is stack. By doing this, a slight bacterial infection, causes the mucus to change into a different color and appear thicker than usual. This situation can be treated using medicinal sprays that help dilute the mucus, at the same time kill the bacteria causing the infection, and finally treat the sinus infection that brings all this discomfort and suffering.

Wangeci Kinyanjui is an expert on research and reporting on Health Matters for years. To get more information on sinus infection symptoms visit her site at SINUS INFECTION SYMPTOMS

By: Wangeci Kinyanjui

About the Author:

Sinus infection, or sinusitis, is an inflammation of the sinuses and nasal passages. Symptoms of a sinus infection include headache or pressure in the eyes, cheeks, nose, or on one side of the head. Other symptoms may include nasal congestion with thick nasal secretions, cough, fever or bad breath.

Mix 1-2 tbsp Apple Cider Vinegar in a glass of water and gulp the mixture at once. Use it 3-4 times a day for 4-6 days. Improvement occurs often in 1 hour, latest in 1 day. If you don’t notice any ease of the sinus infection after 2 days, stop taking the remedy.

First, drink plenty of water and other liquids. Mucous can thicken but keeping hydrated can help to thin the mucous. Drink water, tea or other clear beverages. Stay away from dairy products. Some doctors believe that dairy products, including milk, cheese and even ice cream, may actually cause more mucous to form. Try avoiding these products when you have a sinus infection.

Chiropractor. This was a pure desperation move on my part and I have no one to blame but my self. I wanted the pain and pressure to stop so badly that I let the goofy owner of my local health food store talk me into seeing his buddy the chiropractor. Unlike acupuncture this didn’t even make my back feel better.

Look out for sinus symptoms, mainly headache and blocked nose. Herbal remedies that use ingredients such as licorice, eucalyptus, ginger and peppermint may help initial stage infections. See Resources for more information.

Essential oils have been used for centuries to cure everything from headaches to ant bites, so it stands to reason that they are also a way to cure sinus infection at home naturally. Oregano oil is a popular essential oil used to treat sinus problems as it has some great anti-fungal and anti-bacterial properties. Just put a few drops of oregano oil in some water or juice several times a day and within a few days, your sinus infection symptoms typically go away.

Stay away from dairy products. Some doctors believe that dairy products, including milk, cheese and even ice cream, may actually cause more mucous to form. Try avoiding these products when you have a sinus infection.

Try to treat a cold as soon as you get it. Lingering colds may make conditions right for a sinus infection. Use zinc supplements to help shorten the life of a cold and get plenty of rest.

Garlic contains many components that help fight infection, for example, allicin. Normally, if you are looking for sinus remedies, then eat one fresh and raw garlic bud everyday. However, the strong taste of garlic bothers many people so you can consume garlic in the form of tablets or tinctures. These are freely available online or over the counter in your local chemist shop.

A cure for sinus infection will thus relate to unblocking this cavity and ensure drainage. The sinus infection cure can vary depending on the cause of the inflammation. The causes of sinusitis may be an infection in the upper respiratory track, allergen-prone reactions, asthma-linked effects, other conditions affecting the immune system, presence of bacteria and/or fungi, and nasal polyps and a deviated septum.

By: peterhutch

About the Author:

It is hard to believe this, but nowadays there seem to be more cases of sinus infection then when antibiotics did not exist. That does not mean that antibiotics are not good in treating a sinus infection. There are many other reasons why the number of sinus infection in people has gone up.

Sinusitis is the proper medical term for a sinus infection. when you develop this illness, the first thing doctors will do is put you on an antibiotics treatment. They are crucial in sinus infection because these drugs help kill the bacteria that has cause the sinus infections. Decongestants also relieve some of your sinus infection symptoms. However, after some more studies, doctors have come to the conclusion that medication alone is not the very best way to go when trying to cure a sinus infection. A person that suffers from a sinus infection also has to make sure that the mucus membrane and your sinus passages are functioning as they should and are healthy, in order to cure the sinus infection. Besides the treatment that the doctor will prescribe you to cure the sinus infection, there are some other natural treatments that must be taken. This natural way is good for a sinus infection case, because it can help the cilia stay healthy and function well. Furthermore, using some natural methods in cases of a

sinus infection is also a good thing, because it can stop the mucus from building up.

Hot liquids are very helpful in sinus infection cases, because they help unclog the sinus. Tea or soup are very good for the sinus infection as long as they are hot. You must drink enough hot liquids to moisturize the mucous mebmbrane and thus recovering a lot faster from the sinus infection. Keep in mind, though that coffee is not very good in healing a sinus infection, even if it is hot. Warm compresses are also indicated when sinus infection is bothering you. They must be applied on your face about four times every day. Keep them for a few minutes, if you want to recover faster from the sinus infection. Irrigating the sinuses ia also very efficient when you have a sinus infection. To do that you must sniff a solution made of saltwater. This is very good for your sinus infection. However, do not they this sinus infection remedy until somebody has tough you the proper procedure.

So, if you want to find out more about sinus infection symptoms or aven about antibiotics for sinus infections you should visit this link http://www.sinus-infection-guide.com

By: Groshan Fabiola

About the Author:

The nose plays a special role in the body’s defense system. The air which enters the nostrils and goes through the nose to sinus cavities and then goes to the lungs is filtered by the nose. The nose has a cilia system that does all this cleaning up. If this system gets affected by pollutants, bacteria and allergies an inflammation will occur. Because the cilia will slow down their movements, mucus will be mass produced in order to eliminate the accumulated bacteria and in the end it will be trapped in the sinuses and cause a local infection. Sinus infection gives a lot of symptoms which are not easy bearable by the patients and this is why proper treatment must be given as soon as possible.

The therapy consists out of medical treatment and home care remedies. They are meant to clear up the infection, open and drainage the sinuses, and reduce as possible the intensity of the symptoms while reassuring prevention to recurrences of the infection.

In the air there are numerous bacteria and when breathing we inhale them. Sinusitis appears when the nasal membrane gets affected by pollutants, cold or dry air and becomes inflamed. Secondary the cilia will slow down their movements, and mucus will be mass produced in order to eliminate the accumulated bacteria. If the cilia filter is malfunctioning, these bacteria can get blocked in the sinus cavities and produce an infection.

The inflammation of the sinuses is realizing a local pressure and so is giving the affected person headaches. Treatment consists out of antibiotic drugs and decongestants. There can be taken generics every 4-6 hours or brand name medications which are a little more expensive but can be taken less frequent as they release in the organism slower. Nasal sprays are effective also but they must not be used for a long period of time as they can loose their effectiveness.

At home the patient has to drink warm liquids, like tea or chicken soup in order to maintain hydrated. Steam inhalation is of help and can be done 2 to 4 times a day. Another tip is applying wet bandages on your face. The compresses must be soaked in warm water in order to help the cilia move more efficiently. You must apply them three times a day and keep them for five minutes on your face.

If the sinus infection keeps on coming back on every year the patient should consider surgery as a method of curing this affection. By surgery the infection will be cleared out and the passage way will be drained by opening the nasal passages.

You can visit http://www.sinus-infection-guide.com or http://www.sinus-infection-guide.com/antibiotics-for-sinus-infections.htm for more antibiotics for sinus infections information

By: Groshan Fabiola

About the Author:

A sinus infection can make you miserable and the end result to get rid of it is usually is by a round of antibiotics and decongestants. Nevertheless, what if you can cure sinus infection at home naturally with some things already in your kitchen cabinet? You not only can save money on a doctor’s visit and prescription, but you can also keep your body from building resistance to live-saving antibiotics.

Essential oils have been used for centuries to treat everything from headaches to ant bites, so it stands to reason that they are also a way to cure sinus infection at home naturally. Oregano oil is a popular essential oil used to care for sinus problems as it has some great anti-fungal and anti-bacterial properties. Just put a few drops of oregano oil in some water or juice several times in a day and less than a few days, your sinus infection symptoms typically go away.

To help the break up of sinus congestion which often leads to sinus infection, mix a drop or two of peppermint essential oil with some olive oil and massage into the aching sinus areas like the area above the eyes and around the nose. Very soon your nose will start running which allows you to blow your nose and drive out that potential infection-causing mucus. Adding eucalyptus into your humidifier every night is another way to cure sinus infection at home naturally.

Using salt water rinses of your sinuses daily is a way to prevent sinus infections altogether. Of course, it takes some practice doing it manually so you might want to consider of getting Neti pot which is perfectly shaped to tip into a nostril. This special pot has a well inside specially made in which you can mix your warm water and salt.

Apple cider vinegar is also another pantry item that can cure sinus infection. Usually, a few teaspoons of apple cider vinegar a day are enough to put off most colds, flu and sinus problems. Nonetheless, if a sinus infection looks like it is sneaking up on you, mix two tablespoons of apple cider vinegar in an eight ounce glass of water for three to four times a day. Apple cider vinegar can help quickly thins your mucus so that it can be expelled easier. Within a few days, you should feel a lot better and you likely will have successfully fought off a sinus infection!

One of the best home remedies that you could do when you have severe sinus infections is by using a teapot or any pot or pan to emanate a clean vapor after you boil an ample amount of water in it. Position your face near the teapot where the vapor is coming out from and it would serve as your humidifier to open up your sinuses. Hopefully, in no time, you will enjoy better breathing and fewer headaches

Another great home remedy for severe sinus infection that you can easily do at home is making a glass of hot lemonade with fresh lemons. All you have to do is to follow the instructions of regular lemonade, but use hot water instead of cold. This home remedy for severe sinus infection is enormous in the sense that it protects you from fevers, colds or the flu because of the lemon’s antibacterial and antivirus properties. In addition, it instantly makes you feel calmer and have a soothed which is very comforting during a sinus related illness.

If you are not anxious of using herbal medicines, then feel free to use Oregon grapefruit as one of your home remedies for severe sinus infections. The Oregon grapefruit is very helpful in treating your sinus infection because it is a natural antibiotic that instantly kills bacteria. Preparing this kind of medication at home could never be easier since you can buy it from specialty stores in the form of pills or capsules.

However, like many other herbals concoctions, the Oregon grapefruit should be avoided if you are pregnant. Always seek your physician before starting any new pill or supplement when you are pregnant, nursing or suffering from a chronic condition.

If you need to find a fast way to relieve your sinus infections, the best remedy that you must try is called Sinus Cones. Sinus Cones are confirmed to be very effective and safe even if they are the most powerful decongestion relief that gives you comfort even when you are sleeping.

The Sinus Cones reduce your intake of chemical medications such as antibiotics just to alleviate the sinus congestion that you are feeling. Your nasal passages are opened and the remedial is rushed in such a way that it gives you great airflow relief from your blocked sinuses or congested air passageways.

To cure a sinus infection at home in nature means relying on some age old wisdom that has been handed down for centuries. The reason why these “folk remedies” have staying power is that they really work for many people with maladies from colds to flu to sinus infections. As a result, if you want to find even more ways to cure sinus infection at home naturally, head to your library for a little research or the internet.

By: Cindy Heller

About the Author:

Other symptoms may include nasal congestion with thick nasal secretions, cough, fever or bad breath.

Organic Apple Cider Vinegar is our #1 favorite remedy for stopping sinus infections. We wish more people knew about this amazing home remedy for sinus infections. The idea is to take apple cider vinegar before the sinus infection occurs, which for most people is at the start of allergies, colds, flu, etc.

You mix 2 tablespoons of ACV with 8 oz. of water and drink it down. The taste is less than pleasant, but it works! Within 1 hour of chugging the ACV water the color of the mucous had gone to white (still not ideal but better). I drank the mixture four more times throughout the day. By midday my mucous was clear (perfect). By bedtime the pain in my sinuses had greatly diminished, and was just a bit tender to the touch.

While sinus pressure can be a painful affliction, relief can be possible in many cases. The National Institutes of Health offers some treatment options for relief of sinus pressure and pain due to sinusitis and infections. Among many options, they suggest decongestants to reduce nasal congestion, pain relievers to reduce pressure-causing pain such as sinus headaches, inhaling vaporizer steam to soothe inflamed sinus cavities, and saline nasal sprays.”

Nasal irrigation is often a suggested method of treatment for a sinus infection. This simple procedure is done at home and uses warm salt water to gently irrigate the sinus cavities. This naturally thins the mucous in the nasal passageways. Nasal irrigation systems are available at health food stores and consist of a small pot to fill with heated water. Some people say that performing nasal irrigation at the onset of a sinus infection can prevent it from worsening and help it to heal.

Sinusitis is the inflammation of the sinuses that occurs with either a viral, bacterial, or fungal infection. The sinuses are air-filled spaces in the skull, located behind the forehead, nasal bones, cheeks, and eyes, that are lined with mucus membranes. Healthy sinuses are sterile and contain no bacteria, viruses, fungus or other organisms and are open, allowing the mucus to drain and the air to circulate in them. When the sinuses become inflamed, the sinuses become blocked with mucus and can get infected. About a quart of fluid has to move through the sinuses every day.

By: peterhutch

About the Author:
